Hailing from a small town in Southeast Kansas, I grew up surrounded by a family rooted in tradition and hard work. My grandmother taught me how to make my own Barbie clothes at the age of 7, and my mother encouraged me to join 4-H, where I would compete in sewing competitions every year. I new growing up that I wanted to be involved in a creative field, and eventually I found myself at the Savannah College of Art & Design. After moving to NYC after graduation, I started my career in design and haven’t looked back.
I live with my Manx cat Sophie. I love to cook (and eat), and have a Greta Garbo addiction. I also love illustration in addition to all things fashion and design. Coming from the middle of nowhere, I do not take anything in NY for granted. I love going to museums and obscure art shows, and traveling upstate every fall to explore different towns. I am also very lucky to have a talented, artistic friend group, who are constant inspirations to me.
I believe that the strongest teams are the ones that build each other up and provide opportunities for each other to shine. This is always my attitude in life and at work. The future of fashion is complex and has its hurdles, but I hope to be part of the mechanism that gets over those hurdles. I think that there is hope for our industry to become more sustainable and more innovative. I am constantly trying to evolve and advance my own education as well as passing along that knowledge to other team members.
